Krefeld last Sunday ended their racing season with the Grosser Preis der Wohnstaette Krefeld formerly the Herzog von Ratibor - Rennen for 2 year olds over the 1700m (1m ½ f) trip and of Group III level. On soft wintry ground six two year olds went to post for the event, the absentee being the Peter Schiergen trained unbeaten Bramelot filly Nicoreni. In her absence the Polish runner Place Fonteney (War Command) who had shown good form in France was sent off the 6/4 favorite. She was always just in behind the leaders and challenged entering the straight and although running sound race she just could not get to the biggest outsider Pompeo Dream (Muhaarar) and went down by 1 1/4 lenghts. Pompeo Dream, a maiden coming into this, having ran second in her two starts before, jumped well from gates and led early before Thore Hammer- Hansen settled the Bohumil Nedorostek trained runner behind Kölsch and took the lead entering the home stretch holding off all challengers for a game victory. Bastion (Brametot) stayed on for third three lenghts behind with Lips Vega fourth. The winner runs in the colours of Cometica AG.

Racewise there was not much more last weekend but at Arqana Sales on the monday the andreas Wohler trained Westminster Moon went through the ring and fetched 260.000 Euro. T.J. Bloodstock with the highest bidder and the 4 year old Sea the Moon-son will now go to Ireland to further his career. Done Deal who won for Stall Hougate and Andreas Suborics this year in Chantilly and Deauville found a new home also. The 3 year old Intello colt selling for 140.000 Euro. Pleaseman from Conny Whitfield in Iffezheim was led out unsold at 120.000 Euro. Padre Palou was also not sold at 95.000. The Liberty Racing owned Platin Moon changed hands for 32.000 Euro.

This weekend although we still have racing in munich on the agenda and weather permitting, snow is forecast and on with a cold snap,
all eyes will be on the International front. In Italy it is the St Leger with nine going to post including four German representatives.
Thore Hammer-Hansen will ride the Henk Grewe trained Isfand in the colours of Darius Racing. Michael Forest rides Stall Cimba's Utamaro for Carmen Bocskai. Wladimar Panov takes the ride on Emmenci. He is trained by Frank Fuhrmann for owner Fabian Esser and last but not least Anna van der Troost gets the leg up on the Stall Mandarin's Lions Head. He is trained by Yasmin Almenräder.

Bigger things then on Sunday when Liberty Racing's Fantastic Moon takes his chance in the Japan Cup. The Sarah Steinberg flagbearer will have stable jockey Rene Piechulek in saddle. The Munich team are very optimistic on their chances on fast ground and a fast run race. One thing for sure "Fanta" will face some stiff competition in Tokyo. Apart from a formidable home team which included horse like Cervinia, Do Deuce or Shin Emperor who was a fast finishing third in the Irish Champion Stakes this year on good ground and although ran dissappointing in the Arc he could be back to his best now. You also have the Aidan O'Brien trained Auguste Rodin a two time Derby and Breeder Cup winner and this years King George winner Goliath, who beat the eventual Arc winner Bluestockings and Breeders Cup Turf winner Rebels Romance in Ascot. Its late in the season but its a top class field and you have to acclimatize in Japan but it should be a thriller to watch.
